Get the The friend groupmug. (I'm sorry, they're not groups that Lie) groups of Lie type are the funniest jokes in mathematical group theory. Basically, all the math experts panic because they don't know what to call Liars. They concern "acting on" stuff that is "smooth" and have "many symmetries". (e.g. a piece of paper is smooth but with few symmetries; a circle is smooth (no sudden jolts) and has infinite symmetries.) technically, manifolds
Disputes regarding Lie groups' classification (techincally finite groups of Lie type iirc) happen due to isomorphisms and very similar properties. Derived from the classification of finite simple groups, Lie groups can exhibit unexpected isomorphisms with other types of groups. So we have no clue how to classify them.
