The
nerd of the 00's. First we had A/V nerds, then
computer nerds, Dungeons and Dragons nerds, sci-fi nerds and now anime nerds. I've have had the misfortune of knowing some people with these characteristics.
These nerds are obsessed with Japanese animation (anime), and by extension, everything Japanese. They spend all their time drawing anime characters, watching anime, collecting manga and anime paraphernalia, listening to Japanese pop music, and inserting
random Japanese phrases and words inappropriately into every
day conversations whenever the
chance arises.
They will sometimes argue that Japanese culture and
society is superior to Western culture and all other cultures in every
single manner.
Its alright for everyone to have one or two geeky hobbies, so long as you aren't obsessed and spend all your time and energy thinking and talking about it. If anime is your only interest, then you are an anime nerd, and you need to get out more and develop your personality.
Anime Nerd: "Hey, what did you do over the weekend?"
Average Joe: "
Nothing spectacular. I went to a party Friday night, saw my girl on Saturday and just chilled downtown on Sunday."
Anime Nerd: "Thats sounds so boring!
BAKA! I played DDR and watched the Fucky-Fucky Toe Parade Season 2 DVD that I just got in the mail, TWICE! =^.^=" "
Average Joe: "... The
hell??"
