Base Gait

One of three of the main gaits in quadrobics. They are taught and trained first, and are the most important and versatile gaits in the sport.

sluice gate

A vertically-lifting gate or artificial barrier which can restrict or release the flow of a liquid or fluid, esp. in the context of large volumes of water.
The sluice gate remained closed thus preventing the channel from flowing from the man-made resevoir into the ocean.

Feeling Gated

The specific physical and psychological sensation of anxiety or defensiveness caused by someone invading your personal space.

Distinct from the gaming definition (which means being blocked from moving forward), this context refers to boundaries being forced INWARD. It describes the moment you feel "penned in" or "corralled" because another person is hovering, looming, or standing uncomfortably close, forcing you to mentally or physically "close the gate" to protect your boundaries.

Also used as a verb ("Stop gating me") to tell someone they are encroaching on your personal bubble.
Person A: "Why did you step back?" Person B: "You were standing right over my shoulder and I started feeling gated."

Person A: "My bad, I didn't realize I was gating you.
