Tom and Breanne are dating and have friends, Paul and Stacy, who are also dating. Tom and Breanne break up as do Paul and Stacy. Paul dates Breanne and Tom dates Stacy.

This is friendship dating, it can go on for many months. It can also occur in very large groups of friends.
