Morally superior

A very annoying superiority complex where you think you’re so much better than everyone else, often how most Losers Club fans act towards Bowers Gang fans.

Jenna: “I love Henry Bowers from IT!”
Brady: “Eww how could you like him stop justifying his actions, Richie Tozier better!! Do you even know what Henry did?? Did you even watch the movies or read the book?! You probably only like Henry for his looks!”
Jenna: “Brady, stop being so morally superior! And no, I like Henry for his complexity and I don’t justify his actions, so shut the hell up, you’re so morally superior.”

A system of power — political, technical, or infrastructural — held by an individual or small group whose authority is justified not by election, inheritance, or force, but by genuine moral integrity and competence. Unlike traditional oligarchy, which concentrates power through wealth or ruthlessness, a moraligarchy concentrates power through trustworthiness — with the uncomfortable acknowledgment that such trust ultimately cannot be enforced, only chosen.

The internet needed a moraligarchy at its founding. Instead it got advertising.

Vague-speak for “I did something bad enough to step down, but I’m not going to tell you what it was unless you sign an NDA, and I definitely don’t want to take accountability.” Usually used as a vague spiritual smoke bomb when someone wants the sympathy of confession without the discomfort of actually confessing.
