The act of neutralizing a pejorative term, frequently a racial or gender-based slur, by applying it to oneself voluntarily, for example the use of the term nigga or dyke within the African-American and lesbian communities, respectively.

taking a shaw

Derived from the latin word sha, which means explosive diarrhea. The term differs from the phrase taking a shit because of the shear explosiveness of the action. The term is often used to get out of work for a week or more.
