Even people who dont like marilyn manson should watch his interviews on youtube, at least to find out how incredibly intelligent he is, and how valid his opinions are on almost any topic. Even though i am only 15, and am what some would call "scene" please dont disregard this. It is completely accurate.

A 'musician' (or band) whom people find so edgy, even though a large portion of his/their fans are preps.
Somehow his fans constantly feel like they have to stand up for him and say "He is an artist" and a "lyrical genius" and that he is criticized because his view is not mainstream.
If his view is not mainstream, how come he has millions of fans, which hang on his every word? If you do not believe this, please take a look at the other definitions.
And if he is criticized because his view is not mainstream, why are his videos constantly on MTV? Sure, it's "not his choice" but he has done various interviews as well. He's even presented an award at the MTV awards with...Avril Lavigne, whom he said he enjoys the music of.
His live shows are not very edgy either; he's burnt a bible and some flags. That was Monday morning at the house of GG Allin. Marilyn Manson is a Sunday school teacher compared to GG Allin. And Manson is a bad image to Satanists, because he has admitted he is not truly Satanic and has various Christian morals.
The man has made some decent songs, but has also managed to ruin various songs with his pathetic covers. Sweet Dreams, Tainted Love, Personal Jesus, the agony.
Marilyn Manson, the man, the band, have made some decent songs; but are by no means 'lyrics geniuses' or 'edgy' and different from the mainstream. They are the mainstream. Recently been watered down to just another HotTopic kid favourite. Just like Evanescence, Slipknot and Greenday. Regardless, some of his songs are still pretty good.

The world's most brilliant man; not only in the music he produces, or the essays that he writes, but the paintings that he creates. No matter what you think, he is not the reason for Columbine, 9/11, etc. He's different which makes him the easiest person to blame. Oh my god, he's the Antichrist, we should totally be afraid of him. No, you shouldn't. If you would take the time to read his biographies, you would know that the principal at the Christian school he attended as a child would show them flash cards that would scare the living shit out of him. He was tired of it, and decided to rebel against the Christian religion. Kids listen to him and kill themselves because they want to be like him, or whatever. Untrue. Someone actually quoted him saying, "I never said to be like me, I said to be like you and make a difference." And no, he's not an Anarchist, or anything like that. To tell you the truth, I don't think he has a religion.

An Amazing rock band that never gets any credit for what they do because everyone hates the frontman.
While at first glance they're songs seem painfully obvious, a lot of the time there are several underlying meanings that make them more interesting.
And yes, Marilyn Manson is a satanist, that is, a LaVeyan Satanism. He's a reverend at the church of Satan and the entire Antichrist Superstar album was dedicated to the teachings of satanism (Look up the lyrics to the reflecting god).

"Rock" musician and group whose music is nothing more than dance club techno beats and guitars; Very clever person who uses various tactics such as bashing established philosophies to create controversy and being a professional victim for publicity to boost his bank account; Helped spawn a new generation of children who wear black and bitch about how much the world sucks without doing anything to fix such issues; Hates religion yet has fans who worship him to a degree that they perform cult like rituals of self mutilation; Preaches tolerance and understanding yet rips up Bibles at his shows thus stomping on the beliefs of others, Repackages older songs and markets them to a younger audience; Often plays on The David Letterman Show with unplugged instruments.
