lateral violence

A word sometimes used by certain healthcare "professionals" to get out of doing the basics of their job.

I will not help people today as I feel there is too much lateral violence.

They asked me a question and I believe that to be lateral violence and am now going home for the day bye felicia.

Lateral raises

Lateral raises is an exercise movement usually with a dumbbell, the lateral raise builds the lateral deltoid which is your shoulder but can also target the upper traps, the lateral raise can be done by raising your arm in the scapular plane with some type of resistance usually a light dumbbell

Lateral Deprecation

When somebody puts their owns looks, intelligence, talent, situation, etc down while someone else close to them has it worse than them. Can also be called diagonal deprecation. For example, if a person says “I’m so stupid” with a 4.0 GPA, it’s kinda rude when your friend has a 3.7.

Tom: “God I’m such an idiot. A 97 in math.”

Fred: “I got an 87.” :(

Fred’s head: “Does he know about lateral deprecation?”

Lateral Copy

Sharing an article from the Internet while bypassing a paywall.
If you are a member and receive an interesting article, but your friend cannot read it because they are not a member, what do you do? You copy the article “by hand”, put it back together nicely and send it to the friend. This is a lateral copy.

Another great article that J. will be interested in. But the link is useless to him: he's not a member. I'll have to make him a lateral copy again.
