A filler, basically, usually added to the end of a sentance. Stereotypically said to be incessantly used by Canadians, just like everyone thinks all American teenaged girls with blonde hair say 'like' repeatedly, only 'eh' isn't so incredibly obnoxious IMO. Personally I've lived with canadians that say it, others that don't. Depends on the canuck. Plenty of Americans say it too. Can also be likened to the habit of adding 'then' to soften a sentance.

'so you see what I'm saying, eh?'
'you want to go to the mall, then?;

Eh?

A word with little to no actual meaning in a sentence but mostly implied meaning. Purported to only be used in Alberta it is widely used all over Canada and in some places in the US.

1)So, here we got a...a bottle of beer, eh? And did you know that...if you wanna get some free beer, eh? you stick a...a baby mouse in your bottle eh? And And then you take it to the brewery eh? And then you say that you found it eh? You found it in one of their bottles of beer!

2) "Nice day, eh?"
"Yeah. It's nice and sunny, eh?"
"Yeah. Did you catch the hockey game last night, eh?"
"No, eh. I was watchin'a movie."
"Oh. It was a good game, eh."
"Oh I'll bet, eh..."
"Oy it was too, eh!"
"All you ever talk about is hockey, eh? Never nothin' else!"
"Well I am a Canuck, eh?"
"Oh. Right. Yeah we're both Canucks, eh?"
"Yeah we are, eh."
"Oh...Nice day, eh?"

Online, used when the 'speaker' has no comment. Can also describe feeling ill or blah
Accompanied with a shrug, means "whatever"

Person 1: ...so then I killed her with her own gravy ladle! What's your opinion?
Person 2: eh

Person 1: How's it goin
Person 2: eh

Person 1: Hey I heard you were gone today, how're you doin?
Person 2: eh..I feel blah

"Whaddya wanna do today?" "Eh," he shrugged, "I don't care."
