Since I'm American, I'm going to tell you that an American is a person who lives in America. You can't say that 300,000,000 people (and counting) are all fat, ignorant, car-obsessed, self-obsessed slobs. There are some people like that, yes, but those people are usually either given a poorly-rated "reality" show or have the shit kicked out of them.

Seriously, people of non-american heritage we're not all like that. Many of us actually hate our president and wish he'd walk into oncoming traffic. WE also believe that this war with Iraq is pointless and want to put a stop to it. Also, most of the people I grew up with only ate shitty McDonald's because our parents were too poor to buy both good food AND the drugs of their choice. I hope someday that American POLITICS and some whacked-out-crazy assholes will realize that America isn't the best country in the world. Someday, I'll leave America to travel to the most beautiful and interesting countries and I hope that I won't be hated (or loved, eek!) for being American.

and so on

I am friends with many Ruskiis and in their terms, I am an Americanskii.

Black Americans

A term usually used to referred to Americans of African ancestry. Most in the Americas (and Caribbean) are the descendants of slaves that were brought to the New World by Europeans during the Trans-atlantic Slave Trade. There has been some small controversy over whether to identify Black Americans as African-Americans, as a result of the little identity that many Black Americans have to Africa(e.g., in most Black families, you have to go back an ample number of years to actually find the AFRICAN ancestry; Also, most Blacks in the Americas are not just pure African, as a result of the slave trade and other race mixing throughout the years.) The terms however are used interchangeably, although Black Americans, for example are not able to aply for some of the same scholarships as actual Africans. This, as everyone else, is a unique group of people. Many members of this race are unfairly discriminated against, as a result of racial stereotyping, however, unlike many perceptions, many do not let this stop them from achieving their full potential. However, this, as previously stated, is a wonderful race of people, that has achieved much in the long struggle for equality. Unlike other definitions, ALL Black people are not trifling, uneducated, lazy, ignorant, and other degrading adjectives.

Anonymous Person #2: Well, there are but the terms African-American and Black American are used interchangeably.

South Africanism

1. Slang words used in the country of South Africa

2. The use of words in strange contexts which makes sense only in South Africa.

N.B. Many South Africanisms come from integration of the South African language Afrikaans into the English language.

1. Howzit: A greeting meaning "how is it" or "how are you" (although the question is often rhetorical and doesn't necessitate a response)
E.g. Hey, howzit
Ja (pronounced yah): The South African way of saying "yes"
E.g. Person one: Did you like the new James Bond movie?
Person two: Ja, it was great!

2. Person one: Sorry about that
Person two: It's chilled
Person three: Hey, you just used a South Africanisms!

Real Americans

Code phrase for "White Americans", or basically anyone that isn't the wealthiest 1% of the U.S. population. Commonly used to trick uneducated and easily manipulated people into voting for certain presidential candidates.

"I know I can count on all your votes here in (place here) because you are all - Real Americans." (wink wink, nudge nudge)
