In
engineering culture, "plus one" is used to indicate agreement to a stated position, usually used during a
sprint retrospective; emphasis takes the form of "plus N+1", where `$N>0 and $N<∞`, with the only acceptable (unobnoxious) form being "plus 2". The written form is
always expressed in shorthand, or "+N", where `$N>0`.
"We can incentivize engineers, to write documentation, by making it a requirement of user story acceptance". Most of the ops team muttered "plus one" and went back to ignoring the
PM; the mostly
invisible technical writer,
Stu, sat up and shrieked "plus a million" and then shrunk under the glare of the few frontend developers that bothered showing up.
