In the game of draw poker, a player who has a pat hand and will not raise any bets hoping that his opponents will think he has a poor hand.

When a player in any game chooses (on purpose) to not play their best. Normally this is because they are too superior, they want to hustle you, or they are too lazy to play their best with nothing on the line.

in corporate sales: when reps report a much lower deal opportunity than actually exists. reps do this so that if the deal doesn't go through they don't look as bad and so at the end of the quarter when the company has to make their number the rep isn't selected to perform a high pressure last minute sales job.
this market looks small for us, unless the reps are sandbagging us again.

Sandboxing

Describes the art of giving the impression to listen to your boss, convincingly acquiescing and being able to relate prior conversations without letting it affect one's work.

Sandboxed conversations are generally stored in an isolated section of one's memory.

The brain is sometimes referred to as "running in virtualized mode" while sandboxing someone's conversation.

In video games, the act of abandoning/putting off your tasks or quests in order to just screw around with an immersive and in-depth game world. Examples of "sandbox" games are Oblivion, the Grand Theft Auto series, and pretty much every single RPG or MMORPG out there. The opposite of a sandbox game would be a "linear" game.
