When a
football player refuses to be subbed off, making said player the so-called 'manager' of the team.
This term
originated from Chelsea FC goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, when he refused to be subbed off in the 2019 Carabao Cup final. Despite then-Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri's efforts, Kepa insisted on staying and Sarri lost it.
Chelsea lost on penalties and Sarri was sacked shortly after that. Kepa has
officially become the Chelsea manager.
Manager: "Alright lad,
substitution time."
Player: "But I haven't
completed my hat-trick yet!"
Manager: "I said, you're getting subbed off and that's final. Now please
make way."
Player: "HELL NO, I'M STAYING!"
Manager: "Stop being such a Kepa."
