A blend of "empathy" and "thief," describing someone who hijacks others' emotions, particularly sadness, claiming them as their own and then demanding comfort from the original sufferer. This emotional greed manifests as an intrusive takeover of feelings, where the Empathief insists "all my feelings are mine, and all of your feelings are mine too," leaving the true victim drained and obligated to console them.
"When I told Lisa about my breakup, she turned Empathief, sobbing louder than me and expecting me to comfort her through my own pain."
church hurt is where you experience a degree of distance, pain, or judgement from your church community. Essentially, you are just unable to “find your place”. This is prevalent in the Christian community, but can be extended to other religions.
Now that I am an adult I am beginning to heal from the church hurt that was inflicted on me as a child.
