Wind Down

When your work rate drops prior to time off.
"I'm doing sod all today, on wind down for my week off."

Or

"Have you seen how little Dave is doing today?"
"Well he is on wind down, it's his last day tomorrow"

The siren is currently winding down.
The siren's wind-down took a while.

wind-down time

Chilling out time before leaving work for the day. Preferably starting right after lunch time.
Man I can't wait for after lunch for wind-down time to begin.

running down wind

When you seem to be making the right decisions based on the moment but all the results are running 'down wind' from other people spoiling the outcome.

An animal in the forest wants to be 'downwind' of its hunter so the hunter doesn't get a sniff of the prey.
All upwind are 'seen' by those downwind as the wind blows away from them.
"I went and spoke to an advisor about a superannuation investment but when I saved and deposited the amount-the savings went running down wind with the market collapse"

"I follow coaches advice and play wide reciver for the final play but the opposition always pre-interprets the play making me feel like I'm constantly running down wind"!

bus down wind

The term Bus down wind (or Bus DW) is used in the context of surfski downwind events. In a surfski down wind event a group of paddlers gather to paddle/surf down wind from point a to point b. The group is logistically challenged by getting by car to the start of the event (point a) and yet have enough cars waiting at the finish line (point b) to be able to bring at least one driver per car left at point a back to point b. A Bus down wind refers to a logistical set-up of a single paddler down wind event. The paddler drives to point a, drops the surfski, drives to point b, leaves the car, goes back to point a by bus, performs the down wind run to point b, loads the ski on the car and goes back home.
I've planned a bus down wind for tomorrow morning
