Benefit of the doubt

To give someone the benefit of the doubt is to default to the belief that their intentions are honest, and not assume malice when there is uncertainty or doubt surrounding the circumstances.
John didn't pay me back the $20 he owes me, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he simply forgot and isn't trying to rip me off.

friends with benefits

Two friends who trust each other enough to engage in sexual activity without fear of hurting the other's feelings. Ideal scenario for folk who are not interested in a serious relationship, or who do not have time for one. Not a boyfriend or girlfriend; neither party has to refrain from dating other people. Also not a word tool for a player to have sex with women he does not care about. A smart alternative to random hook-ups.
John and I are friends with benefits. We just hang out, and have sex. It's easy, now that we've established the ground rules. If we stopped having sex, we'd still be friends.

BenSmithing

(v) A political tactic that disguises itself as journalism in order to protect Democrats, most specifically Barack Obama.

1. Something happens or is discovered that might hurt Obama.

2. That something is discovered in the alternative media and uncovered.

3. Ben Smith (or the equally dishonest PolitiFact and Media Matters) pretend to investigate it, write something up disguised as "definitive," and then hand the complicit media an excuse to ignore it.
The BenSmithing of the Obama-Bill Ayers connection deprived the American people of learning the truth.

Dude, did you see how the Eric Holder/Black Panther story got BenSmithed at Politico?

Online friends with benefits

The act of having an online sexting buddy or "nude partner"
Wow She wants to trade nudes again? We must be online friends with benefits

Enemies with Benefits

Like friends with benefits, but enemies. Usually it's angry sex. But in a good way.
Student A: Did you hear about Jake and Alyss?
Student B: No, did they finally fight?
Student A: No! They had sex!
Student B: Enemies with Benefits. Sweet.

Boyfriend without benefits

Being treated as if you were a boyfriend in all the emotional ways, but not in the physical ways
Dan is now boyfriend without benefits with Michelle since she decided they should stop dating and be "just friends."
