Accuntability

When someone pretends to take accountability but actually deflects responsibility.
Often involves therapy-speak, over-explaining, minimising impact, or blaming circumstances instead of owning harm and changing behaviour.

It sounds like accountability.
It feels like accountability.
But nothing changes.
“They didn’t apologise — it was just accuntability.”
“He knows all the right words, but it’s pure accuntability.”

Common phrases used during accuntability:
• “That wasn’t my intention”
• “I’m sorry you feel that way”
• “I was going through a lot”
• “You misunderstood me”

Difference:
Accountability = ownership + repair + change
• Accuntability = performance + deflection + repeat offence

Accountability Mood

A state of mind in which a parental unit or spouse feels the need to control their counterpart or offspring with an iron fist.
Mr. Baer was in an accountability mood when he yelled, "FUCKING ACCOUNTABILITY, CONNIE!"

Downhill Accountability

Often present in Corporate America, Downhill Accountability is the blame game in conjunction with the idea that stuff rolls downhill. When something goes wrong, each tier of management blames their subordinates, who in turn blame their subordinates, until there is only one lonely peon at the bottom of the hill.
President: "Sales are down 8%"
Vice President: "The sales team needs to get their stuff together"
Sales Team Manager: "Our Administrative Assistant has failed to provide bid documents to account managers in a timely fashion."
Admin Assistant: "FML. The color printer is broken, we're out of binders, and they always wait till hours before their deadlines to submit their bid docs for assembly. I guess that's downhill accountability for you"

accountability co-worker

A coworker who tallies up how much money you spend on lattes and lunch, then makes the assumption you must make 10k more than them. When in reality your disposable income is in direct correlation to how many dependents you have not or lack of lexus sized car payment.
Wow, you are drinking another latter... that's the fifth one this week. I am saving up for my kids braces. I wish I could have a latte everyday. "I guess you are my accountability co-worker... You are right I should stop drinking lattes, going out to lunch and taking birth control so I can live your dream lifestyle of fun infertility."
