When you talk to someone long enough to get to know them, then they completely shut you out without warning.

Kyle and I talked for almost 2 weeks and he ghosted me!

He asked me out then ghosted me. I haven’t heard from him in 4 days!

When someone expresses a desire to do something with you or be with you, but when the time comes they have suddenly "disappeared" and there is no word as to why or where they went. Ghosting can be a short-term or lon-term occurrence.

Short term like "We were supposed to go to the rave together but you ghosted me and I had to go alone, you jerk." Or it can be long-term like "We met on tinder, had a couple awesome dates, but then they ghosted me. Their phone number doesn't work anymore and all the emails I send come back with NDRs. It's like they just fell off the face of the planet."
