Many people believe that this stands for Peace, Love, Unity and Respect, and has a deep calling back to the rave scene.

It does, however mean: Pills Left Us Retarded.

Person 2: You mean, Peace and all that bull?
Person 1: No, I took too much LSD, PCP and Ket as a kid and now I'm a fucking mong.

PLUR 

Peace Love Unity and Respect

A way of life that is often scorned by the members of society whose minds have been saturated with the selfish, egotistical propaganda of the world around them. (See: Chav)

PLUR is often used during discussions to emphasize the fact that even when disagreements occur, people can still show respect for one another and their beliefs. It is often mistaken for a gesture of hostility and arrogance, but usually only by people who feel insecure about having their viewpoint challenged. (see: Chav)

You might hear this phrase from freaky hippy guys: 'yeah, like, PLUR maaaaannn!'

Peace. Love. Unity. Respect. Ostensibly a philosophy of noviolent universal acceptance to which people who attend raves subscribe; in reality, used by ravers in place of talk to the hand or whatever when they want you to stop making sense and leave them to their illusion.

Evidence of the reality of the second definition is found in the form of fistfights, factionalism, and the willingness to verbally attack other ravers over the slightest difference in musical tastes or which DJ to worship.

Plur is to Reality as "Why Can't We All Just Get Along" is to... humanity.

well actually it is peace love unity and respect, but rape is a big part of raves

Used by Ravers constantly, they preach the shit out of it but don't really follow it themselves, the only time they do follow it is when they are all up on drugs.

Raver Girl (at rave and on drugs): Hey man did you see that guy hit that dude? That is so not PLUR man!

Raver Girl (few days after rave): *gets in a fight with a friend and starts drama*
