mammy mentality 

Mammy mentality is the possible genetic connection between the mother of the slavery genre and today’s modern African-American woman. She shakes her head with the “I know everything attitude” as portrayed in the move “Gone With The Wind.” That movie shows the mammy as the head of the black family.

This explains an African-American’s attitude. It is genetic. These traits bring problems to the modern women. The dominance and aggressive behaviors are traits of the mammy from the plantation days.

She ran the household and took care of even the men after a long back-breaking day in the fields.
African-American men can’t stand this mentality and date outside the race. This way of thinking is outdated like the buggy whip. They have outlived their useful purpose.

It's your mammy mentality that is causing the guy to walk out of the door and have nothing to do with you.

herd mentality

The inability or refusal to listen to one's own instinct or 'gut feeling' but to instead follow the majority for fear of being wrong, ostracized or ridiculed.

If a herd of animals were haded for a cliff, for the sake of a herd mentality, I doubt one would veer off or stop to save its own life.

crab mentality 

Crabs in a bucket can easily escape from the bucket one at a time, but instead of doing that they pull each other down whenever one rises to the top - thus insuring their collective demise.

This is analogous to the behavior of a person who diminishes or pulls down anyone else who achieves or is about to achieve success greater than their own.

Crab mentality: We all like to see our friends get ahead, but not too far ahead.
