The crop of young adults born between the early 1980's and mid-1990's. Their childhood was spent mostly indoors playing video games or watching cable or satellite TV with over 100 channels to choose from at any time. They mature into teenagers faster than their predecessors, but also take longer to get on their own, fully mature, buy a house, marry, and raise a family. Many of the middle-class Generation Y'ers grew up with parents that constantly monitored them, kept them enrolled in after school activities, and wouldn't let them play outside unsupervised. The early ones grew up with internet during their teen years and the later ones grew up with a computer in almost every household. Childhood obesity became a major problem with this generation. They rely on praise and positive feedback to be able to function in school and the world. They're less likely to party hard, do drugs, have premarital sex, and engage in risky activity like the Generation X'ers and Baby Boomers. Those who don't go to college are a minority.

A phrase people use as a disclaimer to make an excuse to say or do something rude or mean to you to prevent you from having a poor self-image or so there won't be repercussions and make you feel they still like you even though they probably don't.

The smallest, most overlooked, neglected, and forgotten generation in the 20th century. All of them as of this writing are between 40 and 60 years old and their children are mostly late-wave Millennials and early wave Z’ers. The core X’ers were children in the 1970’s and teenagers in the 1980’s. They were the most cynical and self-sufficient growing up and the last generation raised without political correctness, overprotective parents, stranger danger, mollycoddling, and homosexuality unacceptable in most of American society. They were the first generation to become tech-savvy and enjoy music videos on MTV.To this day, few of them are running society and the Baby Boomers are still dominating the corporate and political landscape despite being of retirement age.
Mike’s a Generation X’er. He was born in 1970, wore Izod shirts growing up, and favorite music groups are Metallica and Nirvana.

A borderline racist term many young and ignorant American servicemen use to describe any person living in the Middle East or Afghanistan. The correct use for the term is supposed to be for any person of the Muslim faith that has made a pilgrimage to Mecca

A cop out phrase many people use to describe a situation, place, or thing they think have no control over and trying to change things or people’s minds about it is useless.

A common trait for many people, especially males, that usually grew up either in the inner city or hardworking rural environment. Average intelligence, common sense, lack of interest in reading, ability to fix most anything without needing an instruction manual, skill at handling difficult people, and a refreshing lack of personal warmth are typical traits. People who lack street smarts usually grew up or live in the suburbs, work a white collar job, regular churchgoers, stay in their personal protective cocoon, shelter their kids, and hire people to fix their things.
