RAT
Remote Access Trojan; RATs are used to gain access to computers in the same way as other remote access software, but they crucially do not notify the victim that they're being surveilled. Often used to access computer webcams, beyond just the desktop. Especially crippling Trojans will completely secede control to the hacking third party. As such, all saved information and future access to that computer can be completely recorded, and any program can be executed on it.
This practice is used by state actors for espionage, corporate actors for sabotage, group actors for ransomware or blackmail, individual actors for their own agendas, and everything in between.
In the case of RATs being used by individual actors to access webcams, the surveilled target is sometimes called the RAT. To put it bluntly, some people will target vulnerable systems and spy on the victim to catch them naked. When these videos are shared, they'll sometimes refer to the victim as the rat.

Internet Protocol camera. Netcam. It's CCTV without the closed circuit. These cameras maintain a constant connection to the internet. Many have minimal to no security, though awareness of widespread hacks has led to generally better security across the sector. As of current, there exist websites cataloguing every such vulnerable camera on the internet.
Other websites record video from these IP Cams for many reasons. Some individuals record nonsecure IP Cam feeds to blackmail, extort, sell, conduct corporate espionage, or for other often voyeuristic purposes.
