Issa Rae’s sitcom, ‘Insecure ‘ was a Metashorty web series titled ‘The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl’. Each episode was under five minutes.

I wrote a Metaphorty to recite at open mic night for MLK Day the piece was under 3 minutes and the crowd loves it.

I wrote this Metaphorty which is also a Metashorty, poem to recite on MLK Day:

Pour our libations

We have travelled four hundred five annuals
we are tired and parched
We have protested and cried
Seen our kind die
We have sweated and bled
Seeded and tread
Built walls and streets all over this land

Risen from ashes

Revived and Rebuilt

Voted, paid taxes
All while being strung toe tagged and called ratchet yet
We have demonstrated excellence in every way
In every arena
On every stage
We are beyond frustration

The next mode is rage

BGFT 

Black Girl Follow Train is a movement of Black women taking social media account growth into their own hands. In 2023 the Black girl Follow Train transcended to become BGBTA - Black Girls Breaking the Algorithm (see definition for BGBTA). Instead of depending on apps and algorithms to identify and push content for them. Black women worldwide have pledged to aggressively follow and support other Black women's pages, essentially creating their own algo-rhythm and flow.

I’m a conductor on #BGFT because I follow, like, share, and comment on Black Women’s pages that I come across.
