doll

A term of endearment used in South Africa for a female friend (woman to woman), or for a girlfriend/wife (man to woman). This word seems to be used only by people who have a nasal whiney way of talking, such as kugels.

"Hey, doll, you're looking sexy, hey!"

kugel

A materialistic, wannabe-sexy Jewish woman who belongs to a specific subculture of wealth and style, with affected mannerisms and a nasal way of talking. The term is used by both Jews and Gentiles in South Africa, and even by kugels themselves.

"Hey, doll, if they want to call me a kugel, fine! Most of my gynie's patients are kugels anyway."

A term used in information technology and management consulting to describe an over-priced service which cannot be explained except in esoteric terms which the customer cannot understand.

An expression used in South Africa. Means "really", "truly", "honestly".

phase

(Verb) To disturb, perturb, deter or intimidate. Usually used in the negative.

"They swore at me, but hey, I'm not phased."
"You can't phase me by talking while playing chess."

An out-of-fashion word for wacky and individualistic. Most zany things are out of fashion now too.

She's a zany gal who loves wearing psychadelic shirts and ethnic beads.

Short for gynaecologist. A term often used by kugels.

"Hey, doll, what did your gynae say about your infection?"
