New York and other cities in the east weren't torn down and started from scratch, they went from woodland to city over time, but were built earlier than cities out west or down south because they had harbors to grow around. They were dense before there were cars (New York, Philly, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, and even DC/Baltimore) , while cities like Atlanta and even LA were still small towns in the country (or by the sea). Why would anyone expect Atlanta to develop more like New York on a grid when it was never meant to be, since Atlanta and New York have different histories, as do most cities.
Every city is different. If every city had what every other city had, nobody would travel, since there would be no point.

Urban renewal

About the same as gentrification, where a group of people think they're doing a good job on something, and think that the people from the area think they're doing a good job on something, and that they should be grateful, when really they're fucking it up/destroying it forever.
The black guy lost his entire neighborhood he grew up in while the news said the area was seeing new life and how great it was for everybody that new construction was there. Gentrification and urban renewal seems far more racist than any slur or insult (when you think about the disregard a developer has for whether the people from an area even want something built there), but for some reason people are told it is acceptable to do it.

Joan Rivers route

Becoming everything you made fun of yesterday. A life where smiling was once easy, but becomes harder and harder while cynicism grows as the end gets closer and closer, and the reality that nobody will miss you when the end does get here sets in.
The bubbly girl went the Joan Rivers route through life, and the more she started to practice everything she once preached against, the more she tried to change reality from what ot was into a new one. It got harder and harder to respect her as she got older (though nobody really did have much respect for her if any before anyway).

Becoming everything you made fun of yesterday. A life where smiling was once an easy thing to do, but becomes more and more difficult as cynicism grows as the end gets closer and closer.
The bubbly girl took the Joan Rivers route through life, and the more she started to practice every double standard she preached against or tried to make fun of when she was younger, the harder and harder it got to respect her the older she got (Not that anybody had ever had much true respect for her, if any).

Vaccination rate

It's not a bad thing that the vaccination rate is lower than what some entities would like, at least people that haven't gotten a vaccine know that there are plenty of other people that haven't been bought into a vaccine line, and have no intention of getting in line with the agenda of these entities, even if they are told that they are outnumbered by people who are or have been standing in a vaccine line.
At least not everybody would get a vaccine because their kids are offered a scholarship or they could win a few million dollars in a vaccine lottery, good for them. That way the vaccination rate stays lower than some entities would like, even if it's not really low enough.

Joan Rivers route

Turning into what you made fun of yesterday.
The bubbly girl went the Joan Rivers route and started to practice the double standards she always preached against before, and she got harder and harder to respect as she got older (not that anybody respected her much before).

World class

A pretentious title. Not every small or mid size city wants to become world class, some people still love their city the way it is, and always will, without it having to change or get an image boost from outsiders.
Not every city is meant to become New York, Tokyo, or Chicago, since there are already cities like New York, Tokyo, and Chicago. Not everybody from a smaller city feels like they have to compare themselves to a city like New York, Tokyo, or Chicago by calling their city world class to feel validated. They are already happy to be from where they are from, without an outsider trying to boost up morale even more, or expand on what's already there. They are good with the city the way it is, without it having to change for anybody.
