MAX jack 

The act of riding on Portland's MAX lightrail without purchasing and/or validating a ticket. Honest riders often forced into MAX jacking by out-of-order ticket dispensers and/or validator machines.

The Rockwood validator was out of ink, so I had to MAX jack it all the way to Beaverton.

Neighborhood in Southeast Portland with a reputation for being progressive, creative and all things counter-culture, though rapidly succumbing to californication.

Hawthorne used to be cool, before all the bobos moved in.

californication

What is rapidly occuring specifically in the state of Oregon, particularly in regards to housing. Californians who move up here and drive mortages and rents up to beyond what most members of the "creative class" can afford. In doing so, the very people who have made Oregon unique (especially in the Western corridor, including Eugene and Portland), are driven out, and that which draws people here (uniqueness, creativity, progressive thought) is being eroded.

Hawthorne used to be cool, before it succumbed to Californication.
