Solid Mantis's definitions
A lot of people take a handshake as a sign of trust by both parties (and as a weakness, where it would be stupid to trust someone who's given you no good reason to trust them). Shaking hands, pounding fists, or bumping elbows often seems like an attempt to force another party to trust, make peace, or do business with another, which is why some people dont readily shake everybody's hand when they meet them (especially people they dont know, or dont know well). Not shaking hands lets the other party know the trust isn't there, and isn't guaranteed to get there.
Realistically, not everything works out between two people. A handshake doesn't fix anything, it only gives one party the sense that everything is okay with the other party. People should not rely on a handshake to determine whether everything is okay between two people or not.

Get the Handshake mug.Thinking everyone you like will also be someone you can trust would be blind optimism, and at some point reality shows somebody that not everybody you like will be someone you also trust.
The charming guy/girl was hard not to like, but after years of being around this guy/girl, the blind optimism that started the relationship (friendship) ended up getting a bit more realistic when one party knew they'd never fully trust the other, attempt after attempt at trusting the other party had shown them that. When life was not a party, the people they liked the most were seldom the ones they could continue to trust.

Boundless optimism sounds good, but really it's no different than a state of bliss where everything is okay, and everything will be okay.

Get the Soft spot mug.Someone who leaves a room of people who dont miss them when they leave to say they're going out to party, when really theyre going out on a desperate search for another group of people who hasn't rejected them yet, that way they won't end up riding around alone, with nobody caring where they are except themself.
The vacater is leaving the room, that should take the edge off everybody left in here a bit, it's nice when everybody is not on edge, and someone they dont trust isn't there with them. After all it's the vacater that wants other people around them, not the other way around.

Get the Vacater mug.Instead of being who they were growing up (themself), many of the people on shows like American idol or reality shows traded in Mr./Mrs. Invisible neighbor down the street for an image that people would now care about and worship. Every now and then you even get an athlete or two that tries to focus people's attention on things other than sports that matter even less, like being the hottest/sexiest athlete. You dont meet many plumbers or electricians trying to be the hottest/sexiest plumber or electrician, they're just being a plumber or an electrician when they go to work.
He/she went from being the kid nobody knew, or the kid that had to have an authority figure keep other kids off them to somebody who gets worshipped by millions as a false idol.
