Rick Astley

A British singer-songwriter that started out in a music production group named Stock Aitken Waterman in 1987 and has become extremely popular on the Internet through a universally-understood bait-and-switch meme called 'rickrolling'. It started on 4chan where a word filter changed the word 'egg' to 'duck' and the eggroll trick became the duckroll. Then a guy named Shawn Cotter whose username on YouTube is 'cotter548' made the duckroll become the rickroll. And this happened when they posted a link for the opening of GTA IV claiming it led to a sneak peek video of the game when really it lead to RickRoll'D, which was the music video for Rick Astley's first ever hit, Never Gonna Give You Up in not-so-great quality. Bryan the broker was the username of the first person to click this link and get rickrolled. He's not too shy to say it. Now it is so popular because this rickrolling trick was being done by more and more people and increasing people got to know what it was.

Among Us Drip

A meme on YouTube about the 2018 game Among Us, which is a music video of crewmates (characters in the game) red yellow and blue wearing trainers and acting sus. The background music is a trap remix of the Among Us meeting sound effect made by a YouTube user called Leonz. This made the word sus mean more than just short for suspicious. Then came Amogus.
