This is when everyone is at a public event. Beach. Park or a concert where you can park your car at like it’s a drive in movie. if an employee does something wrong like mess up a customer order, he goes out of his own pocket and pay something extra for their inconvenience of messing up their order, having to wait for a new order, wasting their time coming back and gas money. and being late for where ever they go. customers may not know this, thinking the company does this, but this is just a nice worker trying to make up for his mistake. probably new worker too.
