Purple-Headed Warrior

Created in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada in January 2026, the Purple-Headed Warrior began growing viral but started as a joke. The name references the erect penis euphemism "purple-headed warrior" that was used, and popularized, in the movie The Naked Gun. The cocktail is a variation of Purple Rain, using gin instead of vodka or white rum (Jamaican Purple Rain). The other difference between the cocktails is Purple Rain is topped with lemonade or a lemon line soda whereas Purple-Headed Warrior uses tonic water to cut the sweetness.

Purple-Headed Warrior Recipe:

2 ounces gin
1 ounce blue curacao
1 ounce cranberry juice
1 ounce pineapple juice
1 ounce grenadine
1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
Top with tonic water (lemonade or a lemon-lime soda like Sprite or 7up can be substituted)

Garnish: Lime wheel

Preparation Method:

1. Fill a highball glass or cocktail shaker with ice cubes.

2. Combine the gin, blue curaçao, juice, and grenadine.

3. Shake or stir vigorously for about 15–20 seconds until well-chilled.

4. Strain into a glass filled with fresh ice.

Purple-Headed Warrior

The purple headed warrior cocktail started off as a joke and was created by a bartender named Robert A. Hampton in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. It is a slight modification of the cocktail Purple Rain. The Purple-Headed Warrior simply replaces the vodka of Purple Rain, with Gin and an optional add of tonic water. His intent was to make a cocktail that matched the known slang that appears in the movie The Naked Gun which refers to the erect penis (with its purple head) entering a "quivering mound of love pudding". When asked if he'd create the companion cocktail, Hampton replied, "If I can create a cocktail suitable and that doesn’t exist with the precise ingredients I use." The cocktail recipe is as follows:

The Purple Headed Warrior Recipe:

2 ounces gin
1 ounce blue curacao
1 ounce cranberry juice
1 ounce pineapple juice
1 ounce grenadine
1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
Tonic Water (optional)

Pour all ingredients but tonic water into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously. Pour into a Collins glass, or something similar

Top with tonic water if desired.
