A gathering of four or more engineers. Usually results in waste of time, long tedious explanations, and no real problem resolution.

The growth of engineers were happy to spend the day discussing the problem and waste everyone’s time, but we never got the problem fixed.

A gathering of three engineers, usually to discuss or problem solve a problem, but often over complicating it.

“There is a rash of engineers working on the new water pump design”.
“Great now we will have more design changes and even less efficiency”.
