So, once your gone, the risk to THOSE people would theoretically subside immediately by virtue of the impetus for what's happening being exposed and thus ending the conflict.

Find a viable bird's nest by casing the place beforehand. Find a way to get the gun to the sniper's den without being seen. And then you would need an escape route that avoids cameras. A place you could change your clothes in case you were seen as you fled. A get-away car. A route that would avoid both police on the way to the shooting and traffic cameras. And then you would need to drive the speed limit all the way home to resume your daily life without interrupting your work schedule in such a way that it draws suspicion. This guy clearly didn't just wake up one morning and say 'Hey imma do a murder right-quick.' No. This was PLANNED."

Yeah, giants ring always makes you squish and stacking hp with mantle is a double edged sword because of how many %hp items there are now.

What should they have done?

They should have done what they did.... UP UNTIL they abandoned all of the practices that supposedly made them "The most moral military on the planet." It's at THAT POINT that their response became inappropriate. It's ridiculous that we're just expected to allow them to violate the international rules of war (which they ADMIT TO DOING because "Hamas is using the rules of war against us!"), we need to overlook all of the "oopies" (OoOoO Gehfoigal! Oops!), and we pretend that (if they succeed in eliminating Hamas) they aren't going install their own puppet regime to deny Palestinians their self-determination, indefinitely. Which they are.
