Jekyll and Hyde Parenting 

A style of parenting that provides a full spectrum of emotional and psychological experiences to a child vis-a-vis the parents’ instability and addictions which lays the groundwork for years of in-depth psychotherapies in which the child, throughout their lifespan, has the opportunity to undo the warp and find some semblance of balance and potentially, a sense of a true self.

Yup, at our house it was nose-to-the-grindstone discipline during the week and then Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride when the weekends rolled around; my parents were practicing devotees of Jekyll and Hyde Parenting.

A person who is excessively and compulsively needy of their own space and a level of complete social and workplace isolation that is almost mind boggling to well-adjusted humans.

He had grown up completely alone, practically raised by wolves, and had evolved into a full-blown inattention whore by the ripe age of 18.

nightmare sister colleague 

A workplace cohort who has taken it upon herself to take on the role of a nightmare sister, finding ways to endlessly embarrass, harass, prank and annoy you to the point of near-insanity.

When I wake up some mornings I find myself breaking out in a cold sweat just imagining the weird and unexpected things my nightmare sister colleague might do to me that day.

A passionate devotee of taxidermy whose favorite piece is his stuffed otter.

It seems on the edge of deranged the way that stuffed ottertard takes that thing everywhere, even to bed.

Someone who is entirely unable to go anywhere or do anything without their companion otter.

She is very clearly delving into the socially unacceptable zone with this new companion ottertard schtick she does.

A severe fixation on otters that impairs a person’s life and work, and sometimes even sleep.

It became clear to her colleagues that she had delved into complete ottermania when she was sadly found trying to float in the workplace bathroom sink while slamming a small rock onto a crustacean.
