A wealthy individual who doesn’t give a heck about owning a private jet, living in a mega-mansion, wearing clothes made from animal skin, or savoring exotic cuisine in far-distant lands.

When the natives of Easter Island realized that with closed borders during the coronavirus pandemic they could no longer depend on tourism for their survival; as a result, they switched to tapu, an ancient Polynesian tradition that is based on protecting their health, their lives, and their elders’ wisdom, with spiritual restrictions and shared prohibitions at its core.
In the long term, COVID-🗿could be a blessing in disguise for Easter Island—which relies so heavily on mainland Chile for food, and its 100,000-odd annual tourists for income—to be self-sustainable and waste-free.

When Costa Rica becomes the first country in the world to make it mandatory for children to be vaccinated, with about 1.5 million doses to be given to those aged five to 11—vaccination with apparently no serious side effects in this age group would arguably help stop infected children from spreading the virus to others.
Even if the US has approved the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for 28 million young Americans, making it mandatory for children in red states would further polarize the nation, because a Covid-🇨🇷 template would face strong parental opposition in the name of freedom of choice and due to the risk of juvenile death.

What Donald J. Trump cold-heartedly tweeted to Americans to “prove” to them that he had triumphed over the virus, as if everybody could have access to 24/7 world-class medical care and to experimental medications as him to speed up their recovery.
President Trump’s “Don’t be afraid of Covid!” is not only offensive or repugnant to the families and friends of the 210,000-odd people who had died of Covid-19, and to the 7.5 million of people who had contracted the virus, but also irresponsible or ill-advised to the American public, who are repulsed by his lack of sympathy.

When the odds of a young healthy person—who always wears a face mask and practices social distancing—dying from the coronavirus in a country with low infection and mortality rates are like the chances of someone hitting the jackpot twice at the casino.
Which event is less likely to happen: catching Donald J. Trump telling the truth, or being struck by Covid-🎰?
