In the early 2000's, before the word "emoji" was commonly accepted, people referred to them as 'emoticons', 'smilies', or 'graemlins'.
Her DeviantArt page and LiveJournal are basically tributes to NIN, Invader Zim, and other random things! We basically talk using graemlins. So random!
