Herpum

The refined oil from a reptile, much the same as tallow from cattle, lard from pigs, and schmaltz from fowl.

Herpum is the umbrella definition for oils refined from reptiles such as snake oil, crocodilian oils, lizard oil, and turtle oil (wax).

"Now that we've refined the the oil from the Steato, this Herpum can be used for all sorts of things"

Steato

The fatty deposit in a reptile's abdomen. The fatty precursor to Herpum.

We slaughtered the crocodile and removed the Steato to render it down into Herpum (otherwise known as Crocodile oil)
