spouse-mate 

a term to refer to the girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse of your house-mate, meaning you sort of live with them, and are sort of mates with them, but that your original reason for knowing them was them dating your house-mate.

A: so how d'you know kate?
B: uhhh, like 2 years ago when i was living with jake in london, she was my spouse-mate.
