Graceling

A fictional term created by author Kristin Cashore to define someone who is Graced--that is, he or she has an extreme skill. Someone who is Graced with swimming may be able to swim as efficiently as a fish. A person Graced with fighting skills is much more talented at fighting than the average person, and so on.

A Grace can develop in many different ways, and no two people ever have the same Grace. For example, one person who is Graced with fighting may be an expert sword fighter, and another may be an expert in hand-to-hand combat. Even those can be proken down further. A combat fighter can be someone who is Graced with agility, while another can be Graced with strength, etc.

Graces can also take abstract forms, such as mind reading.

In Cashore's debut novel "Graceling", Gracelings are often feared by those who are not Graced. A Graceling can always be easily identified: each of them has two different colored eyes.
Katsa, a Graceling, is the main character in Kristin Cashore's novel. She is Graced with killing.

Because Prince Po is a Graceling, one of his eyes is gold and the other is silver.

Travelling Shovel Of Death

Some say it thirsts for blood; others say it is an innocent implement forced to do the bidding of murderous fiends. A disturbingly recurrent murder weapon, the Travelling Shovel Of Death appears in multiple different mediums (Usually novels), wherin it is featured murdering an innocent victim.
Henry knew his street well, but he didn't like it. The parameters stretched; the shadows hid secrets; the wind, ever restless, tossed the cloaks of strangers who glared from street corners. But he was sure in his safety. He knew the number of steps to his doorway. He knew where to lift his feet a little higher to avoid tripping on sidewalk cracks hidden in the dark. He knew who to avoid - at least he thought he did, in his naiveté.

A cat was waiting on his doorstep, that night. Dark, soft fur, long legs and a thrumming purr, yellow eyes glinting with reflections of far-off streetlights.

It smiled, sharp, glistening teeth ever white against the shadow of its fur.

In 42 years, Henry had never once seen a cat smile. Perhaps a trick of the light, or an illusion, he thought. Or maybe not. He knelt, looking the cat in the eyes.

It smiled at him, wider.

Wider.

A shadow moved; soft leather brushed against carpet, and a coat loosened its folds. "You're drunk again," said the voice. "Do you know, Henry, how much I dislike drunks?"

The cat hadn't moved; Henry glanced to the side, and caught a glance of soft brown shoes.

"Mr Woon," he slurred. "Ian. Mate. I just..."

He stopped.

Mr Woon smiled at him; a slow, langorious smile, not unlike that of his cat.

Then slowly, deliberately, he rested the shovel's tip on Henry's neck.

"I dislike drunks very much, Henry," he whispered.

Then he put his foot on the travelling shovel of death, and pushed down.

grovelling

something that is done when someone under control steps out of line and has to beg for forgiveness, usually has to apologise profusely while kneeling down and kissing the feet of their owner until they've seen enough to forgive them. This is another way of seeing how dedicated one is to their new position to serve their goddess.
I want to see my bitch grovelling at my feet for hours until i think he knows what his done wrong

Beat travelling

(1) The activity you are doing when you realize that somewhere (away) great music is played and you go there (the one who 'beat travelled' and has found the music will often dance with all his travel gear with him). (2) Looking for the (music) beat. (3) Travel around the country/the world to find the greatest music (beats).

Man 2: "I'm lookin' for the music. I'm beat travelling!"

travelling 'round the world like gypsies and pirates

a) spontaneously doing things and trying to accomplish big projects without having though them through comme du monde

b) going on unplanned, retargerous (to most rational people), harebrained adventures
i don't want my kids travelling 'round the world like gypsies and pirates; i want them to grow up pragmatic and rational people.

Gavelling

A sex act, in which a woman provides oral sex to a man. At any point during the act, the man pulls out, thumps the woman solidly on the forehead with his penis, and declares loudly, "Order in the court!"
Bob hammered out a recess, swept his judge's robes around him and headed to his chambers. His administrative assistant, Nadia, was waiting for him. Bob proceded to hammer out something else, gavelling Nadia firmly.
