Peaceful fire logic

The rhetorical move of using a minimizing qualifier ("mostly," "basically," "for the most part") to dismiss undeniable, visible evidence while standing directly in front of it. Named after the Kenosha, WI news chyron "FIERY BUT MOSTLY PEACEFUL" that appeared over footage of a burning building. The "mostly" is load-bearing — it acknowledges just enough to avoid being completely disproven while still delivering the pre-decided label.Usage note: Often paired with Black Knight Syndrome (the cognitive refusal to perceive contradictory evidence). Peaceful Fire Logic is what you say; Black Knight Syndrome is what you can't see. A person can deploy Peaceful Fire Logic strategically (they see the fire, they choose the chyron) or genuinely (they truly don't register the fire).
"The chyron said 'fiery but mostly peaceful' over a burning building. That's peaceful fire logic: the evidence is on screen and the label doesn't change."

A lighthearted reaction upon receiving disappointing news of some sort. Usually something that isn't a particularly a big deal, esp. when it primarily affects someone else - sort of a mild schadenfreude. Sometimes doubled or tripled, and possibly said in a sing-songy voice for added comedic effect to imitate a muted trumpet, which is how the meme originated.
