A lagback is that person in a group that manages to stay just far enough behind all the others, letting them do everything and then enjoys in the rewards after having never contributed.
The group of survivors fought they're way thru many obstacles finally reaching safety and during the entire ordeal the lagback managed to evade direct exposure to danger.
