Current Year

A term, often used in a derogatory manner, to refer to comments and rebuttals about about the current year and the actual or expected state of being for a society.

The phrase has its origins on 4chan, with satire of John William Oliver and his use of the current year as a straw man argument.
Person A: How am I privileged again? I was born to a single mother and a dad who ran away never to pay child support, only to graduate high-school as the recession peaked.

Person B: (Jokingly) You are white and male. You have no argument and should understand this, it's current year.

Current Year Fallacy

The Current Year Fallacy refers to any argument of flawed logic (also known as a fallacy) that attempts to use ‘the current year’ as a reason to push any given political, or social, reform.
‘Come on, it’s 2015!’-John Oliver (An example by prominent talk show host John Oliver using the Current Year Fallacy)

It's (add current year here)

The annoying buzzphrase people use to rally people to their ideology without doing any work.
Person 1 - Why should we all be forced to believe in so and so?
Person 2 - Because It's (add current year here)!
Person 1 - What does that have to do with anything?

<.7.9.7.6.>a change of direction is a must this year as you have reached the end of your current journey and need a new challenge. Make a break with the past and make it one that cannot be reversed. Move forward fast and don’t look back.<.7.9.7.6.>

/currentyear/

A word used derisively to describe one's incredulity at some specific modern-day fact or event in society that:
1) No one asked for
2) Would have been viewed as totally ridiculous ten years ago
3) Is still totally ridiculous
"Yes, I know that bobby marrying his transgender goat sounds weird, but let's not forget that it's /currentyear/."

Person A: Did you hear that dogs are now considered racist?
Person B: No, but I knew that they would be, since every new day is peak /currentyear/.

The grindset is a contemporary ideology of self-exploitation disguised as strength, deeply tied to the aesthetics of the “sigma male” and to new digital forms of patriarchy. It promotes the idea that human worth depends on productivity, economic success, absolute emotional control, and the ability to work endlessly, turning vulnerability, rest, community, and tenderness into signs of weakness. Beneath its rhetoric of discipline and power often lies a profound inability to relate healthily to pain, fragility, and human interdependence.
“That’s the grindset, brother. While weak men sleep and complain, sigma males stay disciplined, work in silence, suppress emotions, and build power while everyone else wastes time chasing comfort.”
