A fictional character who exhibits the qualities found in the heroes of Wes Anderson movies. Much
like the Byronic Hero, the Andersonian Hero is a person of impressive personal
talent. The Hero'
s personal magnetism draws others into his orbit, and he convinces them to join him in his schemes. At some point during the story, the Hero's arrogance, impetuousness and propensity for
lying lead to serious consequences for everyone involved, and he finds himself abandoned and
alone. By the end of the movie, however, the Hero has redeemed himself and the other characters come to accept him as a flawed, but still inspiring individual.
The list of Andersonian Heroes includes Royal Tenenbaum, Steve Zissou, Mr. Fox and
Max Fischer.
At the end of "Fantastic Mr. Fox," Mrs. Fox encapsulates what it means to be an Andersonian
Hero:
Mrs. Fox: You
know, you really are... fantastic.
Mr. Fox: I
try.
