An umbrella term that includes transexuals, transvestites, intersexed people, and just about anybody else who doesn't conform to the traditional model of sex/gender. "Transgender" is the most general, inclusive term.
It used to be called the gay community. Now we say the GLBT (gay, lesbian, bi, and transgendered) community.

transgender is a umbrella term of a person who identifys as the opposite gender. if you were afab and you become transgender you are a transmac a female who identifys as a male. if you were amab you would be transfem etc.

Anyone whose physical makeup, emotional, sexual and/or self-expression is in conflict with current cultural gender stereotypes.

Someone like myself who feels I was born into the wrong body. My mind is like a woman. My body is like a man. Soon I will be getting my surgery done so I can be who I was meant to be. I am a transgender.
