Saltine-American

A Saltine-American is the politically correct term for North American (specifically United States Citizens) not of color. The term resulted from the inappropriate use of the more offensive term "cracker".
"Today in class the children were taught how Saltine-Americans live throughout the United States, and are descendants of unspecified geographic cultures."

You think me an old fogeyand an old tory, his thoughtful voice said. I saw three generations since O’Connel’s time. I remember the famine. Do you know that the orange lodges agitated for repeal of the union twenty years before O’Connel did or before the prelates of your communion denounced him as a demagogue?
