It’s a condition where a
child’s bones don’t harden properly because they aren't getting the right building blocks specifically Vitamin D, calcium, or phosphorus.
Because the bones stay
soft and flexible instead of becoming strong and rigid, they can start to bow or bend under the weight of the
child’s body as they grow, and even stunt growth in severe cases.
Middle
East, Africa and South Asia have the highest rates of rickets reported.
Despite high
sun exposure, dietary deficiency is often the cause of the condition in those areas.
