Verb. The act of being unable to perform a task. Such as hanging out with your friends, due to persuasive abilities, namely, lack thereof.

Guy1: Is {blank} coming with us to enjoy the cinema?

Guy2: Negative. He was unable to persuade his parental units in the direction of a positive outcome...xenophile.

Guy1: I guess he pulled a recke.

Guy2: T'is true. He did indeed recke out.

Recessionista

A person who evokes being affected by the recession because it's the 'in' thing to do, especially if they have no real need to. They may even pay more for the privilege of having just the right down-market accessories or habits. (Reference the evolution of the hipster.)

We're going to Mel's Diner tonight. The decor's a little shabby, you know with the recession and all, but they have the most fabulous oysters served in replica sardine tins.

i wanna see the receipts

A request for evidence.

The phrase was stated in an interview with Whitney Houston when Diane Sawyer read a headline concerning the cost of Houston's drug habit. Houston, apparently assuming there were receipts from drug dealers and also apparently assuming Sawyer had them requested to see said receipts. The clip went viral in the form an animated .gif.

Person 1: "Did you hear? Cher passed away."
Person 2: "I wanna see the receipts."
