Market place of ideas

A debated concept in where the best way to find what is truthful, optimal, and beneficial for society is to allow ideas to be presented no matter how foreign, incompatible, and inefficient the ideas seem to be in achieving desired outcomes. It is usually used in debates about ideological mismatch of certain individuals, usually migrants, in a Society.

Historically: The concepts historical roots, most notably trace back to John Stewart Mills work on Liberty.

Opponent: the opposing concept is sovereign, self preservation, and others.
Person 1: “we need to ban communist, socialist, Islamists, and overall illiberal, in the classical sense, individuals from immigrating here. Becoming citizens, voting in elections, and serving in office because it's what's best for society.”
Person 2: “no, we need to allow the market place of ideas to take its place to filter out the truth”

Person 1: “that doesn't work. We still have socialists around, even after multiple socialists slash remand economies. Failed or only survived and improved after market liberation reforms”
