A fit of insanity, terror, grief, or (rarely) horniness, in which one twitches while yelling. It is a common phenomenon, first recorded in 200 B.C. when Herodotus wrote about his friend constantly twitching while he stared at a passerby woman.

Used in place of “Ew,” or “Blarg,” in order to express disgust and grossed-out-ness at something. The word was mildly popular in the nineties, and gained resurgence due to the rise of social media apps such as TikTok, and how often new words are circled around it.
