When I was growing up this was a popular phrase in my neighborhood which actually had dual meanings. The first was to annoy or bother someone deliberately, for example, sibling interactions. The second definition was to be physically shaken up. It can also be modified in various ways to suit the situation including jar, jarring, or jarred.
Child: Johnny took my action figure!
Mother: John! Stop jarring his liver!
Friend 1: Do you want to go on the roller coaster?
Friend 2: No thanks, that ride really jars my liver.

Person 1 - "Look at Timmy. He's so pessimistic while everyone else is running around, having fun."
Person 2 - "Yeah, you could say he's a like a leech in a jar. He knows he'll just die eventually, what's the point of it all."
Person 1 - "Wtf man."
