Sub-genre of Hip Hop's trap music originating in Chicago's impoverished south and west sides. Where as traditional trap lyrics from Atlanta more so concern drug dealing or 'trapping', drill music's lyrics are more violent and aggressive, reflecting the violent nature of some of Chicago neighborhoods that made it the murder capital of America in 2012. Drill music was nationally popularized in early 2012 by likes of Chief Keef, King Louie and Lil Durk among others.

Drill music 

Another example of the cesspool mainstream hip hop has become. It gained popularity when Chicago rapper Chief a Keef released "Don't Like" in 2012. Ever since, drill has taken over the mainstream rap scene and replaced trap music as the hottest thing in rap. And just like bass, bounce, crunk, Reggaeton, dancehall, snap and trap, drill will be hot for a couple of years and be replaced with another shitty rap subgenre that promotes ignorance and black on black violence.
